Portland Maine Marathon

October 2003

Yippee! What a great day. A beautiful marathon (26.2 miles ) course, a lot of great views of the Atlantic ocean, a bit hilly, a bit chilly, but all in all a perfect day. Ran with a colleague from ACS New England, Matt Siegle. Kept a pace of 8 min / mile for the first half and let Matt go his merry way, but I held on to a 8:15-8:30 the rest of the marathon and came in 3 hours 40 min! I needed a 3:45 to qualify for Boston and this is actually the fastest marathon I have run in years!! : ) Feeling pretty good today even after spending the day in airports and planes traveling to Tampa for Relay meetings this week! Feeling in pretty good shape – running daily with my running partner, Oakley, our yellow lab. He sure keeps me motivated. I was 173 overall out of 576 marathon runners, 12 in my age and 36 woman. Less than an hour behind the first female who set a Maine record. : ) 3:41 was my time.
