OK – I am having a difficult time committing to racing this year for some reason. I just got back from the doctor and between health issues and the unknown, I am just “on the fence” and need that energy bus more than ever!
So I am here waiting for Steve to come home from the gym and searching Cool Running for a local race, and those old favorites that may fit into the calendar for the season. I definitely need something, another goal, another race …. so these are my thoughts so far….
2008 La Sportiva USATF NEW ENGLAND
The 2008 LaSportiva USATF New England Mountain Running Circuit is the 13th annual series promoting competition in New England Mountain Running and encouraging the running community “to support the sport” by becoming a USATF member. The circuit consists of six races, with runners’ points scored from their best five races. The Northfield Mountain race repeats as the USATF-NE Trail Championship, and the Loon Mountain Race serves as the NE Mountain Championship.
Most events in the circuit take place on the same weekend each year, but there may be changes in dates and times. Regretably there are always going to be conflicts with other running events and running series. Entry forms and results are posted here when available.
The 2008 series:

The cool thing about the series is that if indeed I can work in all 6 races then I get a “bypass” of the lottery for the Mt. Washington Road Race. So I looked more and this is the “grand daddy of them all for mountain races” – The US Mountain Running Championships. Sounds like a great goal for me. Whadyathink?
My issues are with schedule in June and July thinking about trips to Oregon and California – so we shall see. Otherwise I will at least get a taste….
Other Races???
Big Lake 1/2 – my buddy Tina is planning this one – – could be a great family trip! registration closes May 4!
Timberman – just because I did so well and it really was great, or do I try the new 70.3 in Rhode Island?
October 4 – Applefest 1/2 marathon, Hollis, NH
October 19 – Nike Woman’s Marathon, San Fransisco, CA
That is my plate so far… I didn’t want to over due it but… well I need a push, some inspiration and some more goals, new goals… gives me new life!
