The next part of my vacation was a hut trip to the 10th mountain division Jackal Hut in the backcountry of Vail. The hike was 4 1/2 hours and the sun was warm that day. The views from the hut were just incredible. Dreamlike! We spent 3 full days in the great outdoors, using an outhouse, no running water (we melted snow for drinking/eating water AND did not take a shower for 3 days) and slept in our sleeping bags… also there was NO cell service, which was VERY tough for me. : )
