Little Miss Kimmy

My sweet niece Kimmy – it was her turn to graduate, her turn to grow up, make decisions for herself in life that will help her to make her mark on the world.  I have watched her grow up into a beautiful young woman, despite all the challenges that life has hit her with along the way.  We are all proud to say she received her diploma from Bellows Free Academy Fairfax (where I also went to high school) in Vermont.  She has decided to go to college at Johnson State College and when I asked her if her “friends” were going there, she replied … “no, but there is one girl from my school that will be there”.  How cool is that – she is going off on her own to discover the world.  Reminded me of me, when in my 30’s I packed all that I owned and put it in the truck with my dog, Chester and drove across the country for a job, a ski experience and life change.  Here Kimmy is at age 18 – off to college!

We wandered off to the grassy lawn in front of my sister Laura’s house at the farm in Georgia Vermont and  I photographed Kimmy — Here are some of my favorites from that “shoot” to share in black & white.  Hope you like them as much as I do.

And best of luck to my sweet niece on her adventure in life….
